Materials Included: (In 2 boxes) One 5" sq. x 94" Post One 5" sq. Lamp post cap One 5" sq. Trim cap One 6 1/2" sq. x 24" Base molding One Hardware kit (Includes): Tube of vinyl cement
Tools Required: Wheelbarrow or bucket (to mix concrete) Tape measure Level Shovel
Materials (Optional): 1 Solar lamp (sold separately or complete with post) One 5" sq. treated wood post (Optional). Two bags of pre-mix concrete. (Strongly recommended for the stability of this product. See step 5, for instructions.)
Step 1. Slip the trim cap (part 3) over one end of the post (part 1). Slide it down until the top of the cap is sitting approx. 10" below the end of the post. Glue in place with the vinyl cement provided. Note: you will need to pinch the tabs on the inside of the cap to allow it to slide over the post.
Step 2. Apply a bead of vinyl cement to the under side of the lamp post cap (part 2). To ensure proper attachment to the post, apply the vinyl cement to all internal "contact" points of the cap.
Step 3. Place the lamp post cap onto the end of the post as illustrated. Push the cap on firmly until the end of the post "bottoms out" on the inside of the cap. Allow a few minutes for the cement to cure.
Step 4. Slip the base molding (part 4) over the opposite end of the post. Slide it along until the bottom of the base molding measures 24" from the end of the post (this will be your in-ground allowance). Using the vinyl cement, glue the molding in place. Again, allow a few minutes for the cement to cure.
Step 5. Dig a 24" deep hole in the desired location. Verify the depth of the hole to ensure that the exposed post will be completely buried. Fill the hole 3/4 full with pre-mix concrete (not included). Insert the post into the concrete and check for level. Allow time for the concrete to set, then fill in the remainder of the hole. Note: for a deeper installation or added strength, you can include treated wood inside the vinyl post.
Step 6. Follow the instructions included with the solar lamp (if nessesary), and secure it to the round sleeve on top of the post. If you did not purchase the solar lamp, disregard this step. Note: If you are using an alternate lamp or light, you may need to modify how it attaches to the sleeve.
