Michael Healy Finishes
Polished Brass and/or Bronze The mirrored finish of Polished Brass and Polished Bronze is achieved through varying degrees of sanding and buffing. This finish is often used to highlight or accent the points or raised areas on a piece.
Oiled Bronze The Oiled Bronze finish is attained by successively dipping raw castings into a patina solution and then buffing them to a satin finish. It is the repetition of this process that creates the rich, multi-tone finish of the dark Oiled Bronze.
Nickel Silver The Nickel Silver finish has a contemporary look that combines high polished areas with brushed portions. A stainless steal brush on a high speed lathe is used to create the brushed finish

About the Artist - Michael Healy
Michael Healy was born and raised on the Cape Cod seashore. Though New England has always been his home base, by the age of ten his father's Air Force career had carried Michael halfway around the globe, exposing him to a variety of cultures which fueled a desire to express himself artistically. At the University of Notre Dame Michael studied metal sculpture and developed a passion for design. After a tour of duty in the Air Force, his marriage and the birth of his four children, Michael chose to use his knowledge and interest in metal work to open his own foundry on the banks of the Blackstone River in Rhode Island.
Michael worked casting architectural bronze and restoring historic statues throughout New England before shifting his focus to his own original artwork. Combining his knowledge of the foundry sand casting process and his own desire to create highly functional forms of art, Michael was inspired to develop his famous line of unique door knockers. Thus started his venture making artistic decorative hardware for your home.
A dedicated and passionate artist, Michael continues to design daily.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do the door knockers/doorbell ringers require special care? A. We coat each product with a clear baked polyurethane finish. This protective finish is similar to the clear top coat on an automobile. Washing the product with a mild soap and water mixture will help to maintain its finish. Occasionally coating the product with car wax will greatly extend the life of the original finish. Do not use a brass cleaner or an abrasive pad as these will damage the clear coating and the original finish.
Q. Is the finish affected by salt water? A. All Michael Healy products receive the same protective coating. If properly cared for, there will be no difference in the durability of the various finishes based on the proximity to salt water.
Q. What if the finish tarnishes? A. Age and the environment may change the appearance of the product. While some prefer this natural aging process, our refinishing program gives the customer the option of restoring the product it its original appearance. For additional details regarding this program please contact our office: 1-800-995-0988.
Q. Are the doorbell ringers illuminated? A. Yes all of our doorbell ringers are illuminated.
